Pairing Voltra Core

Start here

The Voltra Core uses the Voltra Health app, not Q Watch Pro. Q Watch Pro is for the Pro and the Air wearables. If you own both a wearable and a Core you'll need both apps - they don't replace each other and the Core won't appear in Q Watch Pro at all.

Pairing takes a couple of minutes and you only do it once.

Before you start

  • Power it. [Batteries fitted / charged via USB-C - complete this.]
  • Turn Bluetooth on and check your phone isn't in aeroplane mode.
  • Install the Voltra Health app and create your account before you try to pair.
  • Put it on a hard floor. Carpet affects both pairing and readings. Bathroom or bedroom floor, not a rug.
  • Stand close. Keep your phone within a metre of the scale.

Waking the scale

The Core sleeps between weigh-ins to save power, and a sleeping scale can't be found. Step on it briefly, or tap it with your foot, and wait for the display to light up before you start pairing.

How to pair

  1. Wake the scale and check the display is lit.
  2. Open the Voltra Health app and sign in.
  3. Tap [Device], then [Add device].
  4. Pick Voltra Core from the list.
  5. Step on when the app asks you to. It uses that first weigh-in to confirm the connection and set your baseline.

This is the screen you're looking for:

And here's the whole thing start to finish:

Once paired, it reconnects on its own. Step on, wait for the reading to settle, then open the app with the scale still awake and it'll sync.

It's not appearing in the app

Work down these in order - they're listed by how often they turn out to be the cause.

You're in the wrong app

Worth repeating. The Core pairs in Voltra Health. It will never show up in Q Watch Pro.

You're looking in your phone's Bluetooth settings

It won't appear there either, and it doesn't need to. All pairing happens inside the app.

The scale has gone back to sleep

It drops off after a short time. Step on it again to wake it and go straight back to the app.

The app doesn't have permission

On Android, Bluetooth scanning needs Location permission as well as Nearby devices. That's an Android requirement rather than something we ask for, and no app can see any Bluetooth device without it. Settings, Apps, Voltra Health, Permissions, and allow both.

On iPhone, Settings, Voltra Health, and make sure Bluetooth is switched on.

It's already paired to another phone

The Core holds one connection at a time. If it's still paired to a partner's phone or a previous install of the app, it won't offer itself to a new one. Unpair it there first, or reset it using the steps below.

If you want more than one person using it, that's household profiles rather than a second pairing - see multiple users on one scale.

The batteries are low

[If battery powered: a low battery causes it to connect and then drop out mid-reading. Replace all of them at once with the same type.]

Restart both

Force quit the app, turn Bluetooth off and back on, then reopen it. If that doesn't do it, restart your phone.

It pairs but won't sync

If it connects but your readings aren't appearing:

  • Open the app while the scale is still awake. It syncs on connection, and a sleeping scale has nothing to connect to.
  • Allow background refresh. On iPhone that's Settings, Voltra Health, Background App Refresh. On Android it's Settings, Apps, Voltra Health, Battery, set to unrestricted.
  • On Samsung and Xiaomi handsets, exclude Voltra Health from battery optimisation.

Readings taken while your phone was elsewhere are stored on the scale and come through on the next sync, so you're not losing them by weighing in without your phone.

Resetting the scale

[Describe the reset - whether it's a button underneath, removing the batteries for 30 seconds, or done in the app.]

Resetting clears the pairing and any readings stored on the scale that haven't synced, so sync first if you can.

Still not pairing

Then it's more likely a hardware fault than a setup problem, and we'll sort it. Message us with your order number, your phone model and what happens when you try. A ten-second video is the fastest way for us to spot it. If it is faulty, it's covered by your warranty and we'll replace it.
