Multiple users on one scale

Start here

Everyone who uses the scale needs their own profile. Body composition is calculated from age, sex and height as well as the reading itself, so two people sharing one profile get two sets of wrong numbers. Weight would still be right. Nothing else would be.

Adding someone

  1. Open the Q Watch Pro app and go to [Profile/Me].
  2. Tap [Add user / Family].
  3. Enter their name, date of birth, sex and height.
  4. Have them step on the scale once to record a starting weight.

[Confirm the real menu path, and how many profiles the Core supports.]

How the scale knows who's who

It goes on weight. When someone steps on, it compares the reading to the profiles it knows and assigns it to the closest match, then adjusts its expectation each time so it keeps up as your weight changes.

That works well when everyone in the house is a few kilos apart. It gets confused when two people are within [X]kg of each other, which is worth knowing before you blame the scale.

When it picks the wrong person

[Describe what happens on the scale or in the app when it can't decide - whether it prompts you to choose, or assigns it and lets you correct it afterwards.]

To move a reading to the right person: open the reading in the app, tap [Reassign], and pick the correct profile. The body composition figures recalculate against that person's profile automatically, so a misassigned reading isn't ruined, just filed in the wrong place.

If it's happening constantly between two people of similar weight, weigh in at different times of day and correct it each time for a week or two. It learns.

Weighing a guest

[Describe guest mode if the Core has one - a one-off weigh-in that isn't saved to anyone's history.]

Without it, the reading will be assigned to whichever profile is closest, so reassign or delete it afterwards.

Can other people in the house see my data?

[Confirm and complete. This is the question people actually want answered, so it needs a straight yes or no.]

If profiles sit under one account, then anyone signed into that account on any phone can see everyone's readings. If that isn't what a household wants, each person needs their own account with their own device pairing rather than a profile under someone else's.

Children

Body composition readings aren't meaningful for children, because the calculations are built on adult body models. Use the scale for weight only, and don't set up body composition profiles for under-[X]s.

Who shouldn't use body composition mode

The Core measures body composition by passing a very small electrical current through your body. It's harmless, but as with every scale that works this way:

  • Don't use body composition mode if you have a pacemaker, defibrillator or any other implanted electronic medical device. Use weight-only mode instead.
  • If you're pregnant, the body composition figures won't be accurate. Weight still is.

[Describe how to switch a profile to weight-only mode.]

Getting consistent readings

Body composition readings move with hydration, food and time of day far more than body fat actually changes. For numbers you can compare week to week, everyone in the house should weigh in the same way:

  • Same time of day, first thing in the morning works best
  • After the loo, before eating or drinking
  • Bare feet, dry, on a hard floor rather than carpet

Judge the trend over weeks, not the number on any single day.

Removing someone

Open [Profile/Me], [Family], select the person and choose [Remove]. Their history goes with them and we can't restore it, so export it first if it matters.

Still not working

Message us with your order number, how many profiles you've set up and what's going wrong. If it's assigning readings to the wrong person, tell us the weights involved - that usually explains it on its own.
